Step #3: Get good at shopping

Use your plan and also your grocery ads – to start saving money as you shop less often and buy in bulk when your ingredients are on sale.

you can save money & time in your kitchen

When I had my first baby (I have four littles now by the way) I didn’t want to spend all my *free time* in the kitchen. My husband was in dental school and we had a really small budget, so cooking at home was necessary. Eating the same thing over and over got old. Trying too many new recipes kept me running to the grocery store for random items and blowing the budget.

I hated worrying about “what am I going to make?” all day. If you are a mom you know, cooking with littles around gets chaotic, especially at dinner time right? They need us, they want food immediately, you’re figuring out a new recipe and really – you’re just counting down the minutes to bedtime. Or is that just me? I’m guessing you can relate.

Eating is never ending, so why not get good at it? I found the sweet spot when I started planning meals every two weeks. It’s just enough time between shopping trips & knowing what’s coming up on your calendar. Plus, I got a week off from shopping/planning – and I spent less on our food budget each month – hello, I’m in!

I learned that with a few simple planning steps – dinner wasn’t chaotic but it was actually *usually* enjoyable! You can get good at meals for your family too! All you need is the right system – one that will stretch you a bit but save you a bunch of $$ and time.
